Hello, I’m Doreen

Welcome to my website! I’m Doreen Connor, a children’s author, primary school teacher, singer and lifelong animal lover from Ayrshire, Scotland. I’m so glad you’re here and hope you enjoy discovering a little more about me and the stories I love bringing to life!

I’ve been a primary school teacher for over twenty years and one of my favourite parts of the job has always been sharing stories with children and watching their imaginations come to life. I also loved reading and making up stories with my own two children when they were young, so perhaps becoming a children’s author was always on the cards!

Alongside writing, music has always been one of my great loves and I’ve been singing for most of my life!

My first children’s book, Tails of Courage, was inspired by my much-loved golden retriever, Skye, whose personality and adventurous spirit helped bring the story to life.

I love writing stories filled with adventure, friendship, humour and heart. Most of all, I hope my books make children smile, spark their imaginations and encourage a love of reading that stays with them long after the final page.

When I’m not teaching or writing, I love spending time with my family, singing, enjoying a good book or film and, of course, dreaming up adventures yet to be written…
